Luke Bryan’s Musical Career

Country singer and songwriter, Luke Bryan started off his performing career by penning songs for other artists like Travis Tritt and Billy Currington. It wasn’t until 2007 that he signed a recording deal and then later that year sung at the Grand Ole Opry.

Cut to 2015 and right now Luke Bryan is riding on the crest of a wave. He received the Academy of Country Music’s Entertainer of the Year award for 2015 and was also voted Billboard Music Awards Top Country Artist. Luke is the latest country superstar to make the break into mainstream music, with songs that celebrate his love of beer, fishing and of course, girls.

To date he has released four albums starting with his debut in 2007, I’ll Stay Me, which reached number 24 in the US Billboard 200. This was followed by another, equally popular studio album, Doin’ My Thing, in 2009. Here he collaborated with Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of country music group, Lady Antebellum, on the track Do I and he also covered OneRepublic’s Apologize, revealing diverse musical influences.

Bryan’s 2011 offering, Tailgates and Tanlines, charmed audiences who responded to this summertime celebration by making it the number one US Billboard country album, to date it has sold over 2 million copies. In 2013, Crash My Party became the fourth bestselling album in its debut week, shifting 528,000 copies in the seven days after its release. Six singles were released from Crash My Party, including the title track, Drink a Beer and Rollercoaster.

His most recent album, Kill the Lights, is due for release in August 2015 by Capitol Records Nashville. The first single, entitled Kick the Dust Up was released in May 2015. The Kill the Lights tour was announced earlier this year and runs until late October. Luke will be supported by DJ Rock, Dustin Lynch, Florida Georgia Line, Randy Houser and Thomas Rhett. To kick things off, Luke played a full 90 minute set in Grand Forks, North Dakota, opening the Luke Bryan tour with the barnstorming Kick the Dust Up whilst being raised on a platform from beneath the round stage.
